Boots for Tracking and Anti-Tracking
One of the most overlooked pieces of gear in tracking, especially tactical tracking, is footwear. Footwear is often also an under-consideration for operators, investigators and other personnel involved in OP work, sniping and rural narcotics trafficking, from a spoor reduction consideration. What are the best boots for trackers?

Function Over Fashion
Rock River's UTE2 Carbine
The UTE2 is a very unique proprietary design that is a variation of the AR from Rock River Arms. The UTE2 is essentially an average AR carbine with A2-type iron sights, but minus the carry handle. It also has a flattop rail machined onto the upper receiver for optics. The design is specifically for co-witnessing your permanent iron sights with an optic.

Don't Fight Your Sling
Updating the Sling, Small Arms
Many of us have a choice as to what type of weapon/support equipment we use. But many people are stuck with guns, support gear and other essential equipment that is dictated by those who may not have a clue. One glaring example is the sling. That the sling is necessary shouldn’t be an issue. That many have no clue about slings is a given. Bean counters, administrators and “police executives” make decisions based on nonexistent criteria that defies explanation and leaves people scratching their heads and stuck with less than optimal equipment. The big military was especially slow to recognize the deficiencies of the so-called parade slings, for reasons that are obvious but likewise shocking.

A Warrior's Weapon
Knight's Armament PDW
Our modern operators need a personal defense weapon that goes to the next level. It needs to be light, small, and accurate, have low recoil, good penetration and one-shot stopping power. Knight’s Armament Company has listened, and their 6x35mm PDW could very well be that next step.

Nikon Tactical Scopes
Optics for law enforcement and military special teams have been big business for scope makers over the last few years. Almost every maker offers a tactical line of scopes, with Nikon being the newest member of the fold. Recently, Nikon introduced a tactical line consisting of a 2.5-10X44 and a 4-16X50mm rifle optic. Nikon is no rookie when it comes to optics, as they have been in the optical-making business since 1917. They claim their tactical scopes are waterproof, fog proof, shock proof and have all the new bells and whistles mandated for the job at hand. S.W.A.T. puts them to the test, specifically resolution, return to zero, field-testing and square testing.

Rogers Shooting School
Defining “High Speed”
The author’s opening statement is: “If you want to learn to shoot, go to Rogers Shooting School first&mdashand forget the others.” That’s big talk. Why does he rate Rogers Shooting School so highly? You’ll have to read the article to find out.

Clothing Doesn't Make the Man... But It Helps
Woolrich Elite Series
People began wearing clothing for protection from the elements. Pouches or pockets were later added to facilitate carrying items. Essentially, clothing is to cover and/or warm and provide a convenient way to carry items. And none of us is going into harm’s way naked if we can help it. In 2006, Woolrich, one of the oldest outdoor clothing companies, teamed up with Backyard Outfitter, Inc. to offer a new line of clothing—tactical—which they are well qualified to produce. The line, Woolrich Elite Series, includes just about anything one could want for heading to the range or earning dollars the hard way. What’s in the Elite Series now and what do they have planned for the future?

Uni-Max Rail Mount Laser
New Laser Sighting System From LaserMax
LaserMax has a versatile new rail-mounted laser sighting system: the Uni-Max Model LMS-UNI. LaserMax provided one of the very first Uni-Max lasers off of the production line to S.W.A.T. for testing. Smaller than a matchbox and weighing less than an ounce, the Uni-Max incorporates a number of innovative design features. Like what? You know the drill by now... you’ll have to buy the magazine to get all the details.

Big Bore Patrol Rifle
Yost-Bonitz Custom .45-70 Marlin
The old stand by Marlin lever-action is being radically tricked out by Yost-Bonitz Custom Gunworks. The author had his very own Marlin done and the results are, in his words, “Awesome!”
